$940 Billion is the Congressional Budget Office`s (CBO) prediction of the cost of this bill over ten years
The real problems remain and fraud, waste and frivolous lawsuits are not addressed at all in the bill
You will be fined for not having insurance starting from 2014. The higest possible fine is 2.5% of a household`s income
The government is relying on fines to help fund this bill. The CBO estimates that total collections from such fines will be about $4 billion per year over from 2017-2019
When I moved from London to San Francisco as a part of my college course, the last thing I imagined I would do was get involved in American politics.
Being a guest here, I wanted to learn more about the country that was hosting me, and a few months back I turned my attention to H.R. 3590, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. In short, after looking at the details of the bill I realized that it`s simply not the right bill for the American healthcare system.
That`s why I decided to set up this political action committee, to support and endorse candidates who believe as I do, the funding of this bill must be stopped, and that the money intended for it must be returned to the American taxpayer.
This isn`t a Republican issue or a Democrat issue. You don`t have to be a tea-partier or an independent to sign our pledge, you just have to care about this great country that I`ve fallen so in love with.
Because I`m not yet a citizen, I can`t vote for anyone in November, I can`t even make a small donation. But what I can do is this- share my experiences with you, and I will keep doing that until we have reached our goal.
So please, sign our petition and I promise you that we will make sure that your congressmen and senators, and the people running to represent you in Washington hear your voice.
I know that it is somewhat unusual for me to be embarking on this journey, but I hope you`ll let me share my American Dream with you.
Thank you, and may God bless you and the United States of America.
